There is so much that I could talk about at this time - the Presidential elections, the primaries, violence in the streets, etc., etc. But there’s also an old saying, “Take time to stop and smell the flowers.”

No matter that there’s a big, giant bee in it, and another one on the way.

I’m basically a news junkie. I listen to news all the time. But this is the first Presidential election for which I have to, every so often, take a break.

It’s the way they drag it out. I know it’s every four years, and that’s the way it’s supposed to be. But we should be advanced more as a nation where we might be able to vote on our phones.

…which sounds good, but then you start realizing that everything from Target to the DNC can be hacked…..

It’s summer. Let’s enjoy it. Let’s run around, go fishing, play baseball, play frisbee, have cookouts. And then, when the weather gets cold, when we’re all stuck inside, then we can deal with this election.

I have to say one more thing. In all the elections, somebody is always saying we need to take our country back. As long as I’ve been living, I’ve never seen a different flag flying over our heads than the stars and stripes. So to whom and where has our country gone? This is the United States of America; we are able to go through and deal with anything.

And I have to think of that great quotation that’s often attributed to Churchill, “Americans will always do the right thing …after exhausting all other possibilities.”

In closing, let’s do what we learned in kindergarten. We may disagree, but we’re still nice and respectful to each other. That is the American way. So let’s go outside and enjoy the weather together. Because in a blink of an eye, we’re going to be looking through the garage, trying to remember where we put the rock salt.
