Hello, everybody. This is the time of the year where we look back and look forward. That’s probably why I’m a history buff. I always like looking back to see what people have done, and that gives me strength to move forward.

We’re only talking 365 days, but a lot has happened in that time. Some happy things, some sad. My condolences to all of my friends who have lost someone this year, and congratulations to all the people who are new mothers and fathers for the first time this year.

As most of you know, my favorite holidays are the 4th of July and New Year’s Eve. I guess New Year’s is everybody’s birthday. You have a party, you watch the ball drop, you gear up, grab some courage, and hit the new year.

When all of you people are planning your New Year’s resolutions, start off with something easy like, “I’m going to smile more around the workplace,” or “I’m going to communicate better.”

That’s my problem with all of those makeover shows - they can make someone look gorgeous, but inside that’s still a nasty person. So let’s work on being nice to people. That’s always simply done with a smile.

So, in closing, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I’ll see you on the other side.
