Photo of the Month, Jan. 2012

Yes, everything’s getting back to normal.  At the very beginning of the year, we always see the same thing: cigarette sales drop, the lines at McDonald’s and Burger King are shorter, the gym is filled up with people who have no idea how to use the machines, and the health food stores are packed.  But by the end of the month, all of those people have been weeded out, and everyone gets back to their normal routine.

Have you noticed that some (not all) vegetarians think they’re the healthiest people on Earth?  And it seems like your whole family caters to what the one or two vegetarians in the family wants?  And we can’t go to just any restaurant because we have to make sure the vegetarians can have everything they might want to eat?  Just because someone in the house is a diabetic, we sure don’t cut back on the desserts.  If a vegetarian walks in to a steakhouse, the waiter looks at them and says, “Oh, that’s nice, let me see if we can get you a pasta dish.”  But if you go in to a vegetarian restaurant and mention that you’re not a vegetarian, they look at you like you’re a cannibal.

I think, at the core, we should all try to get along.  It’s just that those vegetarians I come across are a bit too holier-than-thou-save-the-planet, I-don’t-eat-anything-that’s-alive.  Between you and me, if they find a bean sprout on Mars, we’d be seeing a great big headline:

“LIFE FOUND ON MARS!”

Anyway, people, thank you for letting me vent.  I guess you can tell I was hanging out a lot with my vegetarian sister-in-law over the holidays.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and a wonderful time with family, and connecting with old friends.  I’m sure you’re like me and a lot of people - getting holiday cards from people you can not remember, Googling them or checking around on Facebook just to figure out who they are.

Last month there were two people I accidentally left out of my thank-yous to people who help keep my business running.  These two people actually keep me running back and forth, all around the area, so I can come out and see all of you.  Thanks to Scott Woodruff of Union Park Jaguar, whom I rely on to keep my car fixed up and running so I can come out and work with you all.  And thanks to Leslie Hurst of Faulkner Pontiac Buick GMC that keeps my wife’s car up and running for those times when we do switch cars.  They are both very important to my business, and keep me running so I can help keep you running.

In closing, Happy New Year, and let’s hope for no snow!
