Photo of the Month, Oct. 2012

As most of you know, I’m kind of a history buff, and I am also a political junkie.  When I sat down to write for this month’s Photo of the Month, I realized that by the time I sit down to write next month’s blog, the Presidential election will be over.  There will be winners and losers, people talking about who won and who lost, and how it all happened.

Looking back in history, there have always been scare tactics during elections.  There’s always a boogeyman, always telling you how terrible things might be if this doesn’t happen, or that doesn’t happen, and who should and shouldn’t get more or get less.  But no matter what your political affiliation is, you have to be proud to be an American if only because our top leadership can change on a regular basis without massive bloodshed.

What always amazes me about our political system, though, is how some of the people deeply involved in it think that average Americans are just stupid.  We are a smart people, tell us the truth, and we’ll make an informed decision.  When you don’t want to tell us the truth, it’s hard to trust you.  Tell us the truth.  Like I said last month, we will always find out the truth.

So go out and vote.  Let’s prove to all the people who are polling us, calling us up, that there are many, many people out here, with many, many different ideas, and that we can all come together under one flag and move forward.

Moving forward has always been a funny concept to me - wether you’re going north on I-95, or south on I-95, you are still moving forward in your situation.

In closing, on an upbeat, Halloween’s coming up!  Yay!  So you, or your son, or your daughter, dress up as a real boogeyman - a witch, wolfman, Frankenstein, or Chucky!  And give out candy - I mean real treats - nobody wants a granola bar or healthy snacks.  Give ‘em candy.  That’s just the ex-little-boy in me speaking out.  I’m so glad they didn’t have all those healthy snacks when I was growing up.

Anyway, get out and vote, give out some candy, and when you hear that rough roads are ahead, think of life like this: America’s going down these rough roads like it’s in a Range Rover - we will always get through ‘em.  Talk to you next month!it’s in a Land Rover - we will always get through ‘em.  Talk to you next month!
