Photo of the Month, Sept. 2010

Hello Clients and Friends,

Hope everyone had a wonderful summer!  Thanks very much for all the responses from our July Photo of the Month.  We decided not to do a Photo of the Month for August since it is such a big vacation month.  We figured we wouldn’t add to the mountain of emails you already had to sift through when you returned to work.

So, what is this site going to be?  Some of of our colleagues in photography said we should write about terrible clients.  But aside from the fact that, in this economy, any client is a good client, I can truly say I don’t actually have any bad clients.  So one of my younger colleagues emailed and suggested we should talk about how to get the most out of working with a photographer.  I think that’s a great topic.

The most important thing about working with a professional photographer is communication.  That may sound like advice from Dr. Phil, but it really is a vital part of getting the best results.

Personally, no one can email me enough or call me enough about a photo shoot.  I know things can change.  Things can change during a shoot.  I also know that your boss’s boss can come up with an idea while I’m driving to the shoot, ask you if the photographer can do it, and suddenly everything’s changed.  My depth of experience in this business has made me completely comfortable with being flexible and going with the flow.  The only challenge I’d have in that situation is if that change requires a piece of equipment that I’d left in my studio, not knowing I’d need it.  So if it means your company and mine are on the same page, and we’re prepared to give you exactly what you need, bring on the emails and phone calls!

In the initial stages of deciding what your company wants from a photo shoot, you may have a meeting with others in your company to discuss the details.  I have no problem attending that meeting, or being in on a conference call.  Planning ahead will definitely save everyone time, money, and headaches.

Having that great flow of communication with a client also makes it easier for both of our businesses to work together more efficiently on each new project.  Once we understand each other’s company lingo, things begin to run like clockwork.  If I do yearly group photos for your company on a Thursday in July, I’ll know I took those photos on a Thursday in July and that’s what I’ll label them when I send them to you.  But if your company keeps those yearly “Omega3 All-Stars” photos in a file with that group’s name on it, I’ll gladly label those photos with that name.

So talk to us, email us, fax us, text us so that we can provide you, like our web site says, with the best images that promote and showcase your company, your products, and your people.

If you have any comments or questions, we look forward to hearing from you!
